Homeschooling is rapidly becoming more and more popular in Israel, with hundreds of families throughout the country educating their children at home. There are homeschooling support groups in every part of Israel.

Homeschooling in Israel is legal, and in recent years the Ministry of Education has released guidelines for receiving permission to homeschool.

The Israel Home Education Association provides support for homeschoolers and unschoolers in Israel by maintaining this web site and an email mailing list.

Ramat Beit Shemesh רמת בית שמש

Meets every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month, starting at 9:30 or 10:00 AM, and onward, near the playground in the middle section of the Ayalon Park, in Ramat Beit Shemesh Alef. Hopefully under some shady trees. Parking is available all along the side of the road adjacent to the park area.

Everyone should bring what they would normally bring for themselves and their children: water, food, enjoyable activities, books, etc. as well as encouraging words.

Rehovot – Gezer רחובות גזר

יש קבוצת חינוך ביתי גדולה ופעילה באזור רחובות גזר והרבה מאוד מפגשים לכל הגילאים
(מומלץ להרשם ברשימת מייל הקבוצה ע”מ לקבל את שפע המיילים עם הפרטים של הפעילויות השונות)
  • ביער אשתאול (סמוך למחלף שער הגיא) – חוג שומרי הגן לגילאי 5 – 16 בשבע קבוצות גיל (גם קטנים נהנים מארגז החול)
  • בגבעת ברנר – חוג צפרות והצגות ילדים
  • ברחובות – קואופ משפחות – מפגש גדול בו כל פעם משפחה אחרת מעבירה פעילות
  • ברחובות יום א’ ו ד’ מפגש בספורטק
  • ברחובות – יום ג’ מפגש יצירה
  • בירושלים – סיורים מודרכים פעם בחודש במוזיאון ישראל וחוג פעם בחודש בגן החיות התנכי
  • בשילת – חוג קרמיקה פעם בחודש
  • בבני יהודה – יום ד’ חוג וטרינריה
  • סיורים במפעלים ומקומות שונים בכל האזור שבין ירושלים-רחובות-תל אביב.

There is an active homeschooling group in Rehovot/Gezer with lots of meetings for all ages.

  • Eshtaol Forest (near Sha’ar Hagai interchange) – “Shomrei Hagan” ages 5-16 in seven age groups (little kids also enjoy the sandbox)
  • Givat Brenner – Birding Club and children’s plays
  • Rehovot – Family co-op – a big meeting where each time a different family organizes an activity
  • Rehovot Sunday and Wednesday meeting at Sportech
  • Rehovot – Tuesday art/creativity meeting
  • Jerusalem – guided tours once a month at the Israel Museum and Chug once a month at the Biblical Zoo
  • Shilat – ceramics class once a month
  • Bnei Yehuda – Wednesday Veterinary Chug
  • Tours of factories and different places in the area between Jerusalem – Haifa – Tel Aviv.
