Homeschooling is rapidly becoming more and more popular in Israel, with hundreds of families throughout the country educating their children at home. There are homeschooling support groups in every part of Israel.
Homeschooling in Israel is legal, and in 2009 the Ministry of Education released guidelines for receiving permission to homeschool.
The Ministry also has a page of questions and answers about homeschooling in Hebrew.
The Israel Home Education Association provides support for homeschoolers and unschoolers in Israel by maintaining this web site and an email mailing list.
You can request to join our mailing list by signing up here: https://groups.google.com/d/forum/israelhomeschool?hl=en
Please include the following information:
- Are you currently homeschooling?
- Where do you live?
For direct one-to-one contact with homeschoolers in your area, you can join the homeschoolers’ “white list”.
Send your name, children’s birth years (to calculate their ages), telephone number, address, and email, to:
“The White List”
P.O. Box 1560,
Rosh Pina 12000
Officially, for each child you need permission from the Ministry of Education.
The Ministry of Education claims that they approve 95% of all applications.

UPDATE: The Ramat Beit Shemesh group currently meets informally, but not on a particular schedule.
For information, contact Dahlia 058-409-2010.
Meets every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month, starting at 9:30 or 10:00 AM, and onward, near the playground in the middle section of the Ayalon Park, in Ramat Beit Shemesh Alef. Hopefully under some shady trees. Parking is available all along the side of the road adjacent to the park area.
Everyone should bring what they would normally bring for themselves and their children: water, food, enjoyable activities, books, etc. as well as encouraging words.
We look forward to seeing you!
